Join my 8 week Improvisational Choir- 'Vocal Inventions' course (good for non-singers and experienced ones) at FOF in Vejle. For those of you who have some experience, this will be a chance for you to continue exploring the world of vocal improv, and for those of you who are new to the form, don’t be scared - you will love it!

Day and Time: Thursdays 19:00 – 20:30 

Vocal Inventions Choir is for singers and non-singers.  All Levels of singers are welcome; complete beginners to the very experienced.  Simply sing what is sung to you - It’s that easy. 

An Improvisational Choir is an excellent way to have fun, sing, relax, feel connected, release happy endorphins and build community.  Improvisation is a centuries-old art form, proven to boost your risk taking and problem solving skills, as well as your adaptability and performance confidence. 

Course Outline: The rhythm of the sessions: Each session will begin with vocal warm ups, vocal technique and vocal improv skill-building exercises. 

Afterwards singers are divided into groups according to their vocal pitch range. Each group will then be given a melodic or rhythmical pattern to sing (spontaneously composed by Martina). The parts and voices build and build until the improvised song grooves along; there is then an opportunity to solo over the top of the newly improvised tune if you are moved to do so (but no pressure!).

Vocal Inventions Choir at Spinderihallerne

The choir form is inspired by Bobby McFerrin’s “circle singing” concept: Singers are divided into groups according to their vocal pitch range; melodic and rhythmical patterns/parts are composed by Martina on the spot; in turn each group is given a pattern/part to sing, the parts and voices build and build until the improvised song grooves along; there is then an opportunity to solo over top of the newly improvised tune if you are moved to do so.

Drop in. Free. Arrive 5 minutes early. Bring water. No perfumes please. 

2022 Dates and Times: The 1st Tuesday of every Month: June 7th, July 5th, EXCEPTION - August 9th,  and so forth.
